  Shotover Jet operates on the Shotover River, the richest gold-bearing river in New Zealand and is the only company permitted to operate within its spectacular canyons, carved out over thousands of years by crystal clear fast flowing water that comes straight from the Southern Alps. Speed past rocky outcrops, skim around boulders and zip through the dramatic and narrow canyons as its walls tower above you. This spectacular environment, less than 10 minutes drive from Queenstown, only adds to the excitement and exclusivity of your Shotover Jet experience.
  
  HISTORY
  When Shotover Jet began operating in 1965, it was one of Queenstown’s first
  adventure activities. Now we’ve taken jet boating from humble beginnings to become an iconic ‘must do’ attraction, receiving many awards and accolades and widely regarded as a world leader in commercial jet boating.
  
  YOUR DRIVERS
  All our drivers are highly-trained professionals who know the ‘Big Reds’ and the Shotover River like the back of their hand. Each driver undergoes a minimum of 120 hours rigorous training (double industry standards) before carrying their first passenger. They’re also employed for their outgoing personalities, their terrible jokes, Their ability to keep a straight face before flinging you into a spin and their unique ‘take’ on local history.
  
  OUR REPUTATION
  We look after you from the moment you first meet one of our friendly team. Shotover Jet operates boats custom designed for strength, power and maximum manoeuvrability. Small powerful boats equal big thrills and the very best memories. Throughout, your safety is paramount with an unparalleled maintenance and risk management programme.
  
  'Big Red’ jet boats depart up to every 15 minutes and operate every day (river and weather conditions permitting) except Christmas Day.
  Allow 1 hour 30 minutes Queenstown return including jet boat ride. Our red shuttles depart ‘The Station’ Info Centre up to every 15 minutes.
  Life jackets are mandatory and are supplied, along with optional splash coats
  • Dress warmly in winter – warm clothes, jackets, sunglasses, hats and gloves
  • Onsite facilities include parking, retail, café, toilets and viewing area
  Minimum child height of 1 metre. In high water we reserve the right to raise height limits.
